Bill Greene
Bill Greene is the chef-owner and wine director of Artisanal Restaurant, where he combines his culinary expertise with a passion for wine to create an exceptional dining experience. His journey in the culinary world began at the young age of 14, working at a private club in Linville, NC. What started as a part-time job quickly evolved into a lifelong dedication to the culinary arts.
Bill honed his skills at the prestigious Culinary Institute of America in Hyde Park, New York. From there, he embarked on career that included stints at iconic establishments such as Le Cirque in Manhattan, Peacock Alley at the Waldorf Astoria Hotel, and Mary Elaine’s at the Phoenician Resort in Scottsdale, Arizona.
At Artisanal Restaurant, Bill’s vision goes beyond crafting innovative dishes; he is also deeply involved in the curated wine selections that complement and enhance the dining experience. As the wine director, he ensures that the wine list is as thoughtfully curated as the menu, showcasing a diverse array of wines that speak to his dedication to quality and variety.
Bill and his team strive to provide not just outstanding food, but also genuine hospitality and a welcoming atmosphere, making Artisanal a destination for both food and wine enthusiasts alike.
Co-Owner
Anita Greene
Anita Greene, co-owner of Artisanal Restaurant, grew up in a small town in Aiken County, South Carolina. There she worked in her family’s retail business. She holds a degree in mechanical engineering from the University of South Carolina.
She worked for many years in manufacturing in process and faculty engineering.
Anita is a member of the board of trustees at Appalachian State University. She enjoys time with her family, including puppies Cosmo and KoKo.
